By The People, For The People

The Blogosphere has been waiting with bated breath for me to weigh in on the subject of the oil spill. Wait no more, my lovelies.

Tell me again when unrestricted laissez-faire Capitalism was declared in this country? The bureaucrats that regulate every minute detail of every business in this country seem to know less about disaster-prevention than the huge corporations they oversee. The only sure-fire way to avoid any possible disaster would be to ban all business activity. On the way to that ultimate safety, we may someday pass up North Korea and Iran, two examples of environmental paradise.

Bottom line: Whenever politicians are given power over people, expect rich people to defend themselves by bribing the politicians. So how's that Government-by-the-people thing working for ya?

    1776....

The quagmire of government rules and regs has done nothing to reign in corporations, but have done everything to squash the little guy. No amount of rules and regs can prevent "shit happens".

The finger pointing and "hard line" antics from nanny.gov and the media would be amusing if they weren't so sad... It's like they think BP, Trans-Ocean, and Halliburton did this on purpose. Did they screw up? Yes. Will they lose a freakin' mountain of money because of this? Yes. Will all of Obammy Inc.'s hot air, threats, and posturing make a damn bit of difference? No...

All the government will do is heap on more restrictions. The lefty loons are screaming for drilling bans. And gas will be $10 a gallon. In the end, it's us little guys who'll get screwed, as usual....

  2. Hi Mayberry,

Yep. Isn't it amazing that no one is blaming the government for failing to foresee this? And everybody thinks just one more regulatory agency will fix everything and make this place paradise.

  3. And furthermore.....

There was yet another chorus of "freedom has failed" from the government-lovers. If only we didn't have all that damn freedom!
