Dawn Approaches

I'm having astronomical, equipment-related issues. Mrs. UC is doing just fine, however, and here is proof:
                                             .

Almost dawn. As Mark Twain wrote in Huckleberry Finn, "It even smelt late." Here is Pleiades above Jupiter above Venus. Delightful! Photo by Mrs. UC.

  1. Been enjoying those "stacked" planets during my 4 AM shift misery all week, until today when they were ever so slightly obscured by a bunch of clouds, rain, and a lightning show the likes of which I've not seen in a long time!

  2. Hi Craig,

I love lightning storms! We haven't had rain here in months; the tradeoff is clear skies. This morning, in addition to the "stacked" planets, I watched an 87% moon set over the mountains.

I get a kick out of your dislike of early hours. I hit the sack at 5 p.m. and wake at midnight--my preferred unemployed hours.

  3. My circadian rhythm goes with the sun. Wake up at sunrise and go to sleep after dark. Anything otherwise throws me for a loop...
