The Grand Canyon

A nice day trip, South Rim of the Grand Canyon is 4-1/2 hours away.
            .

The Canyon has permanent haze.
             .

Flowers!
                .

Your friendly neighborhood Underground Carpenter.
          .

Mugging for the tourists. This guy had more cameras trained on him than a presidential press conference.
                       .

Looking down.
               .

The lovely Mrs. Underground Carpenter.
              .

Isn't this a cool building? I love the door, too. This is the Geology Museum.
                  .

Lots of nice outcroppings for spectacular views.
                .

Family pictures! Are these folks Mennonites?
At one point, while we were walking along the edge, a nice young couple approached us and the man handed me his camera to take a picture of them. He didn't ask me, he just handed me his camera. Maybe he didn't speak English. Every language you can think of was being spoken around us.

Most of these pictures were taken by Deanne.

Mo' Clouds

Cloud pics, taken yesterday. Monsoon season has the most amazing clouds.

Building over the nearby hills.

Caught a birdie in this shot. Just passing through.

Monsoon Revisited

Returning from a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona, we came up to this flooded spot on Rt. 66. This was about 20 miles from Oatman.
       .

One of these folks waded into the center of this flow. Water was over his knees. In ten minutes the water had subsided enough to drive through.
               .

Lots of these cool mountains in Arizona.
                .

Interesting rock formations.
                .

Still on Rt. 66, almost to Oatman. The road gets twistier and windier. Lots of 10 MPH hairpin curves.
                  .

Cloud drama in the background.
                  .

Oatman, Arizona, where hundreds of burros hang out, waiting for tourists to feed them. There were lots of babies.
                 .

I rolled down the window and this cornball stuck his head in looking for a treat.
                 .

Home again. This pic taken as we were pulling into our driveway.
